Changing Where Your Pay Goes Is a Security-Sensitive Payroll Action

Trion Solutions supports several wage-payment methods within its payroll service, including direct deposit, payroll checks, and paycards.

For an employee, the important distinction is not simply which option is fastest.

It is how the chosen method is authorized, recorded, and protected against fraudulent changes.

Direct Deposit Connects Payroll to Your Bank

With direct deposit, the payroll system sends net wages to the bank account recorded for the employee.

The data involved is sensitive.

Trion’s worksite employee privacy policy specifically lists bank account information used for direct deposit among the financial information it may process.

Treat changes to that record with the same care you would use for online banking.

PrismHR Added Approval for Direct-Deposit Changes

PrismHR announced an additional direct-deposit approval control in July 2025.

Under that functionality, ACH account updates do not take effect until the change has been reviewed and approved. PrismHR described the feature as a fraud-protection measure used alongside other security controls.

A pending change can therefore be an intentional control rather than a malfunction.

Verify the Effective Payroll

A bank change made today may not necessarily redirect a payroll that has already moved too far through processing.

Employees should verify:

which account is currently active;

when the new account becomes effective;

which paycheck will use it;

whether a remaining amount will be sent elsewhere.

Do this through the authorized payroll process rather than assuming the edit takes effect immediately.

What Is a Paycard?

Trion also offers payroll paycards.

Its payroll materials describe paycards as an alternative for workers who may not use traditional bank direct deposit and say wages can be deposited onto the card.

A payroll card is not the same as an ordinary personal checking account.

Employees should review the specific cardholder disclosures, fees, withdrawal methods, ATM rules, and wage-payment choices associated with the actual program offered by their employer.

Do Not Assume Every Trion Employee Has the Same Paycard

Trion services many different client companies.

The wage-payment arrangement available to one worksite employee may not be the arrangement available to another.

The worksite employer’s program and applicable state law can affect options.

Use the card documentation supplied for your actual account.

If Pay Goes to the Wrong Account

Act quickly through verified payroll channels.

Describe:

expected account;

actual payment result;

pay date;

whether the bank account is yours;

whether you recently submitted a change.

Do not email full bank-account credentials unnecessarily.

The payroll team can tell you what information is required for investigation.

Unexpected Bank Changes Can Be a Security Warning

If you did not request a direct-deposit change, treat the situation as potentially serious.

Secure the employee account using the official support process and report the unauthorized change.

Do not rely on an unsolicited email or phone caller claiming they need your password or verification code to “restore payroll.”

Keep the Payment Method Separate From the Pay Calculation

A correct payroll amount can still be delivered to the wrong account.

A wrong payroll amount can still be delivered to the correct account.

Those are different problems:

Calculation problem: wages, taxes, hours, deductions.

Delivery problem: bank account, paycard, paper check.

Identifying which one occurred makes the payroll investigation faster.
